With torture porn flooding our multiplexes this Halloween season (I mean, we’ve got Saw V And High School Musical 3 at the same time?!), the arrival of the indie-darling Splinter from F/X whiz Toby Wilkins is a breath of fresh air. With crazed squirrels, irritated disembodied hands, and enough MacGyver moments to make Richard Dean Anderson jealous, Splinter is a better-than-you’d expect throwback to the classic monster movies of the 70s and 80s.
